Many times we hear experts say buying a custom domain and upgrading is always better especially when working with wordpress at any level as it comes with plugins that enhances SEO,etc.. true But that shouldn’t really hold you back. There are different website builders. I also noticed that even on a free platform, you get a fairly high Domain Authority and Page Authority on day one except when using the blogspot domain though. Blogger is a very great platform for anyone to use for blogging as you can easily monetize the blog with ads immediately but you’ll have to do extra work on On-Page SEO..i.e quality content on your site, keywords difficulty and Off-Page SEO..i.e the number and quality of sites linking back to your site(backlinks). 

DA stands for the Domain Authority of a site… i.e the power of a site compared to others. while PA stands for the Authority of individual pages in a website. This is usually /100 meaning the higher your site’s DA, the chances of showing up on the results for a search query is higher too. Like I said blogs built on the blogger platform hardly find a space higher up in the search engines why? It’s because of the misuse of the platform. Some blogger blog owners are actually scammers using the free blogger platform to hack users system because you can easily edit and modify the HTML code of the blog and insert malwares, viruses, Other SEO webmasters will say the blogger HTML code is actually too long and heavy making it not so SEO friendly. These and many more, has made people avoid any website having the blogspot.com domain. If for example you searched something on Google and two blogs showed up, one a blogspot blog, the other a wordpress or any other blog, you’ll most likely ignore the blogger blog like it’s not even there. so this is a signal to the search engines not to include blogger blogs higher up the search results even though it’s owned by Google, it’s mostly about users experience and satisfaction.

Now someone might begin to wonder with all these blogger cons, then why is this blog running on the blogspot domain? .... Well, it's just to let you know that you're also going to get a decent (up to 1000 pageviews daily) amount of web traffic too with blogger blogs. All you have to do is use a simple, straight forward theme for your blog and you'll see an increase in traffic. This is because an over coloured page takes time to load. And Google favours faster loading pages in the index. 

But if you want to rank on page 1 on the results for a long time and also get lots of traffic within a very short time, then a custom domain is better because it's easier to naturally get backlinks for a custom (premium) domain than it is for a free domain (free domains are subdomains, Like a page in a website). Most experts also feel that many webmasters still operating with a free domain are not yet serious with blogging.

So how can I possibly make money With a website ? You can make money Running ads from ads network like; Adsense, Adsterra, Admaven, Popads, Adcash, A-ads, hilltopads, revenuehit, Exoic,  etc. 

 Or you can also make money as an affiliate marketer on any level.. but in all you need to know what people are searching for, what people are asking on Google search, what is trending online, businesses looking for customers, popularity, leads and sales, marketing, softwares and applications reviews, website reviews, Health related topics and products, etc.. and their monthly search volumes and how hard it’ll be to rank a Website for specific keywords. 

Let’s assume you want to make a website solely for the purpose of reviewing apps, softwares and websites like ahrefs.com and make money out of it.

This is a great way to make money from your website as it requires minimal effort and can be done at any time. To get started, you need to create a digital product that your audience will be interested in and then set up a payment system on your website so that you can start selling it.

The bitter truth: 

In the early days of blogging, this is what bloggers face even with Paid/custom/premium domains.

I'm just guessing, but there will be some traffic. Then what? how to make money Suppose you are using Adnetworks like Adsense. Expect 1-2 clicks per 100 actual hits. Sometimes it doesn't click at all.

One of my blogs gets about 300 organic Google hits per day. 75% of my traffic is from the US and Europe. Monetized with Google Adsense. We also used Google Auto Ads on AMP pages. 1-2 clicks per day.

We've partnered with Amazon, eBay, and Alibaba. About 6/7 ads are clicked per day, but no conversion. Making money is far away and you can't even get email subscribers.People are sick of signing up.

Things are happening now that a blogger is trying to make money off another blogger. They tell quirky stories, completely false success stories. They also show manipulated screenshots of earnings. In fact, making money with a blog is a difficult task. You can do this only if you have extraordinary skill or you're just patient."

 From experience, on ad networks like Popads, if you're getting traffic outside the US, Canada and England, you get to make $1 most times less for every 1000 impression on your blog and most blogs hardly get 1000 daily impressions. Sometimes it may take 2 months or more to make $3 just from running one ad network on your blog. If you decide to run more ad networks, you're going to affect your user experience and that's not good too.

What about Affiliate marketing? 

Running affiliate marketing on a website is as the same as running the website itself.. 

So as a beginner if you ask me, I'll prefer to keep running a free blogspot subdomain and write on topics that are engaging and evergreen than to keep paying for hosting and Subscription fees on a custom domain and make just enough to renew subscription.

 It may even take a year or more before you start getting from 5 to 20 or maybe even more more visitors per day as a Newbie and these visitors may not come from Organic clicks (Google). They may most likely come from one of your links on quora or on a Facebook group or a forum, etc..  This shouldn't scare you because everyone started as a Newbie. 

There's alot to it.. if you have now gotten enough traffic/money coming from your free domain and you wish to buy a custom domain and redirect your visitors to your newly purchased domain, insert this code and the new URL of your custom domain right before the head of your blogger HTML code:

If you really want to get traffic from social media outlets, take advantage of ads or promote a product via Facebook market place and then leave a link to your blog too. 

Take advantage of tiktok because even with zero followers and likes, you can get over 50 views on just 1 video you upload on tiktok. 

You can also make money on tiktok by reviewing products, services, websites, applications, etc and leave your affiliate link.
